Saira RahmanSaira has a Bachelor of Education, 1996 and a Master of Education degree in Administration, 2001 from the University of Manitoba . She was a member of the cultural advisory team to review the new Common Curriculum Framework for Social Studies, Kindergarten – Grade 9 , which was developed in collaboration with educators in Manitoba , Saskatchewan , Northwest Territories , Yukon Territory , and Nunavut .

Saira joined the writing team for the Manitoba Framework of Outcomes for Social Studies K to Grade 8 , completed in 2003. In 2002, Saira co-authored a handbook for teachers about Muslim Students called Muslim Students: Their Culture and Faith, A Handbook for Canadian Teachers . She is a member of the Board of Directors of MAME or the Manitoba Association for Multicultural Education. MAME is a non-profit organization established in 1983 in order to promote multicultural and anti-racist education, particularly within the Manitoba school curriculum. She is currently MAME Treasurer and Co-ordinator of an upcoming MAME conference on World Religions and Education in 2005. Saira is active in providing information sessions on the Islamic faith and the Muslim community to numerous school and university classes, church groups, youth groups, and interfaith communities in Winnipeg , Southern Manitoba, and Saskatoon .
